Leah Bloom Gold, Fame, Citrus You want to talk about it and I mostly remember reading it so here's a thread for that.

Looking back at my review, the book had a solid opening third, a weird middle third (where that thing happens to Ray) and then the last third just falls apart.

  1. I really liked how plausible it was that a whole new ecosystem had evolved in the dunes, and the questions the book raised about what sanity is/is worth. And the utterly malleable morality of kidnapping.

  2. I thought that the whole "new ecosystem" thing was a dodge by the cult leader. I guess there was that one greenhouse? But in any event, none of the new plants/animals (if they existed) could actually help the settlement so they had to go raiding.

  3. I got that it was a dodge, but I believed it for a while just like the protagonist did.
